We were lucky enough to be camping in Bryce Canyon and only a mile or so away from Bryce Point and the Rim Trail. we got the idea to wake up at 4am and get to the rim to watch the sunrise.

Camping awards the ability to be mobile. We tossed on our hiking gear and made it to the rim with time to spare. We brought a jet boil and aero press to have a warm, fresh cup of coffee in the chilly morning air. Nothing beats a sunrise with coffee in hand outdoors.

The lots here can fill up really quick during the day as the rim trail is one of the most popular hikes in the park. At 4 am though, you get your choice of any spot you want. When we pulled in, there was only 1 other car that beat us.

Once the sun cleared the hoodoos, you could already feel the heat of the day. We stayed for about an hour and a half watching the sun rise before taking our gear back to the cars to start our hike.

By this time, more people were piling in, so we headed off into our hike down the Canyon. The best part about this hike is you start downhill, so you are very optimistic until you have to start heading up the elevation.
This helps a lot when hiking with kids because they are much happier when a hike starts off easy instead of climbing elevation right off the bat.

Bryce Canyon may be one of the most amazing places we have watched a sunrise. The colors of the rock mixed with the morning sky is unlike anything we have seen before. If you are ever able, I highly recommend waking up early, grabbing a cup of coffee and heading to the rim for sunrise. You will not regret it.
