You would have thought it was an early spring day, not two days before Christmas in downtown Seattle. The sun greeted us along with mild temps while the streets were buzzing with tourists and holiday shoppers.

The sunshine was rare in December for Seattle, but coming from the Midwest where sun usually means colder days, we will take it. It made it perfect to walk around and explore Pike Place. Checking the forecast the week before our trip, we saw rain each day on the weather, so when we crossed the mountains to sunshine, we were very pleased.

We only had a few hours downtown before needing to head north, so we made the most of it we could. The mix of people and holiday decorations was very festive. We checked out the pike place market, the pier, and some of the blocks surrounding this area. Pro tip, fly out the day after your states NFL team plays in the city you are going. In this case, the Vikings played in Seattle the day before we arrived. Our flight was really reasonable and I am not sure if this is due to the game, but we will take it. With this, we also saw a ton of Minnesotan’s walking around.

I ended up shooting a roll of black and white and used my Q for the rest. There was a lot going on with people, so the auto focus of the Q ended up being easier for shooting a lot of street photos.

We will make it back here soon, but it was a great kickoff to our Christmas on the West Coast.
