5 Photos – Evanston Folk Fest

A fall music fest right on Lake Michigan in Chicago with multiple days and multiple stages? Sign us up!!

Into the second year, the Evanston folk fest features 3 different stages, food trucks, artist talks, merch booths, kids area, art and so much more. The fest starts at 11am each day and runs until about 9:30pm when the headliner finishes.

The atmosphere was exactly as you would expect at a folk festival. Very laid back and easy going. The main stage gets pretty congested as the day fills up with people, but the other areas are pretty open. We got there early and claimed our spot at the main stage. From there, we were able to wander around as we liked and still have a spot to hang out at.

Music festivals and concerts are tricky as most state no professional cameras. Depending on who is at the door, this can very from anything other than a phone being professional to anything with a zoom lens. What I have found is the film camera seems to be the cheat code. Whenever they ask about it, I simply show them it’s a film camera and most don’t take it serious and wave me through.

This was our first year attending, but I am excited to make it back next year and see how they keep growing. It was really well done with some great groups playing the event.

All images are from my M2 and Kentmere 200. It got tricky using a 200 speed film at night, but for an outdoor festival primarily during the day, it worked well.
