Dark November

The mood of November. The 1st started off frozen and gloomy and has not let up. We should have known something was amiss when the darkness persisted. The sun rises, but the hope to break through the clouds does not always accompany it.

Sometimes I wonder if I put too much faith in people doing the right thing. The principle that we hold called the American dream is not the same as the dream that forged us in the early years. We hide behind religion and old glory as a northern star and morality, but really we are holding these truths to push our self interests, not that all men and women are created equal. Like the kid at Halloween wearing a mask, We want to play the part of doing this for the greater good, but just like the below photo shows, we expect to be covered and protected when the storm actually hits. We can’t have both. You must be responsible for your choices. The majority voted for a radical change, and unfortunately they will get it. Change and hate are the early leaders.

The new American dream is about being selfish and not caring for your neighbor. Your neighbor stands in your way from getting what you think you deserve.

Right now, it feels dark and lonely. It may remain that way for a while, but the one thing I do know is goodness will win. There will be a day that the sun does break through those clouds and we can finally open our blinds and let the light in. All we can do in the meantime is control what we are able to each day and hold our heads high knowing we are on the right side of history.
