The ocean has this energy to it. It is one of my favorite places to visit. I always find myself so relaxed staring into the waves watching the ocean almost breathe as the water crashes and recedes. Out west, we stayed in a little town called Salida, Colorado. During our stay, we were able to wander around the town while a festival was going on. We came across this section of the river that was built to flow the water into waves and were able to catch a few people surfing this section. It reminded me of all the times we have found ourselves looking at similar situations from California, Germany and now Colorado. It is amazing the draw to this sport and the ability to find ways to do it even in a land locked state up in the mountains. I hope to make it to the north shore here in Minnesota soon and catch some Lake Superior surfing. If you have a seen the photos before, it’s usual during or after a storm in the colder months with ice clinging to beards. For now, I wanted to share a few of my favorites from randomly stumbling into a wave.
